Warranties

When you are doing the research for your new spa and pool, one of the most important things to review is the warranty.  There will typically be four different warranties that will come from the manufacturers and builder covering creation and installation.

Common Pool and Spa Warranties

Structural Warranty
Provided by the manufacturer of the pool or spa shell, this warranty guarantees that your structure will not crack or leak water due to structural failures caused by defects in materials used in and workmanship during manufacturing.  The fiberglass pool manufacturers that Sleepy Hollow works with offer structural warranty for a minimum of 35 years after purchase. Spa manufacturers offer structural warranties for the lifetime of the spa.

Surface/Finish Warranty
Also provided by the manufacturer of the pool or spa, this covers the gelcoat finish in fiberglass pools against defects like peeling, osmotic blisters, or staining. Spa surface warranties guarantee against surface defects in the acrylic finish for 5-7 years.

Equipment Warranty
Provided by the manufacturer of the pool or spa equipment, this warranty covers pumps, filters, heaters, and cleaners. Typically 1 year, but often extended to 3 years if installed by an authorized dealer.

Installation and Workmanship Warranty
Standard 1 year warranty, provided by the builder (that’s us!). It protects you against major issues like plumbing leaks, structural settlement, or shifting of the pool or patio, and guarantees that all work will be performed in accordance with or above applicable codes, standards, and accepted industry practices.  At Sleepy Hollow Pools, our workmanship warranty is our promise to stand behind the quality of our work.

Key Considerations

Warranty Exclusions
Warranties often do not cover damage from poor water chemistry, improper maintenance, natural disasters, or settling due to soil conditions. So, always confirm the specific terms, such as what constitutes proper maintenance with your builder to ensure your coverage remains valid.

Questions to ask when reviewing warranties:

  • Is the warranty transferable?
  • What’s the duration of the warranty?
  • What is excluded?
  • What does the warranty actually cover?

Any manufacturer or builder should be eager to discuss every detail of the warranty they provide with you!
